You know, I'm not really sure if it's ok or not. I know that everything I've read says Virgin Coconut oil, but you could probably try it and see if it works. Sorry, I'm just not sure.

And I know you can do that recipe I posted with out the lavender oil. I think it is just a little extra anti-aging...

Do any of you girls know of a shampoo so natural you could amost eat it? The Body Shop used to make this banana shampoo that was extremely natural. They don't make it anymore. I looked at the other shampoos and don't seem as natural as that one was.

I cannot wait to try this! But I have very fair skin and the idea of putting an oil on my face before going out makes me nervous. I usually use a moisturizer with sunscreen in it. Would you use the coconut oil before the sunscreen or after?

Coconut oil has a natural SPF of 4. If you are going to put on more sunscreen, I would wait until the coconut oil has some time to soak in first(at least 5-10 minutes), then put on the sunscreen.

Where do you buy the Virgin Coconut oil? I'm very interested. I have problems w/ break outs and I'm getting really sick of it. That sounds good to me and I bet it smells good too.

I bought my virgin coconut oil at Whole Foods, but I would bet that any health food store would have it.

Can't wait to try this shampoo recipe. I've been thinking about trying something to save money and be better for us. Thanks, Candy

I use cornmeal mixed with olive oil as a body scrub, and keep them in little containers in my shower, too. I've also combined cornmeal with body wash and that works as well.

For my face, I use Sugar mixed with my facial cleanser - but only once a week. My dermatologist recommended Cetaphil. I like that although it's best to use it with water and a washcloth, in a pinch, it can be used with a tissue and no water (excellent for camping trips!). I also like that I can get it at Costco and it's very cost effective that way. I have my dd's using it, too.

Vitacost.com has Garden of Life extra virgin coconut oil for $9.47 for a 16 oz. bottle if you are interested. I'm thinking about trying this.
