Wow! There are a lot of great responses here. I do believe in global warming, but I also know that the earth is dynamic, and as such, is in a constant state of change. Just a few hundred years ago, Europe was in a mini-ice age. (or was it the whole planet?) Anyway, regardless of if global warming is man made or a natural occurance, there is nothing wrong with being "green". There is no denying that it is the better route. Anyone can look at the landfills, see the rising amounts of cancer and disease, and see that the water and air are being polluted by what WE are doing. It doesn't matter if it is causing global warming, it's just plain not good for the earth.

I will have to disagree with this one. If we ALL did "it", I guarentee you'd see a difference!! Unfortunately though, this won't happen. I don't expect to live to see the day where the whole planet is on board with saving it.

I agree with this 100%!! Each of us CAN do so much to impact (or lessen our impact on) the environment, and like they say, "It all begins at home!"

As for the polar icecaps melting, yes in some areas they are, but in other areas they are getting thicker. Some of you may not remember or weren't around then, but in the 70's scientists were saying we were headed for a new iceage because the earth was getting colder. That was even before all of the regulation of pollution output. It is all a part of climate change. Do we need to be concerned about pollution? Yes we should. Should we be more environmentally conscious? Yes as well. As for Mr Gore, well.....okay moving on. Unfortunately IF global warming is true, the little things they tell us to do (using florecent bulbs, less gas, walk to where ever you are going, straw houses, etc) won't solve it. It is a drop in the bucket even if we all did it. I walk where I can, because it is good for my waist and my wallet, I grow my own produce because it saves me money. My bottom line is my motivation. If we really want to impact the environment, we would each become an autonomous individual( or family) providing everything for ourselves, we would be entirely vegan because it is cows that provide a good portion of greenhouse gases, no cars at all or buying things, because it would cost too much to ship them around the country, no planes etc, oh and no breathing, it produces CO2. And quite honestly, as long as China(the largest producer of greenhouse gases )is unwilling to change, nothing will be resolved in the long run. I am a Christian and as such I believe we need to be good stewards of what we are given, but God will return when He wants regardless of Global warming. Now, please don't hurt me......
The opposite is true of what you said about Greenland and Iceland. Greenland has always had ice but now it is melting. The explorer who founded it named it Greenland to attract more settlers. So, Greenland is actually becoming more "green". Iceland has always had windy and mild winters. One of the first settlers farmed on it with his wife, so its climate has never been chilling cold. It was warm enough to farm on from the beginning.
