If you read farther down on the page at the link above, there are responses to the orignial post about this where people tend to disagree (to some point) about whether growing the peanuts has such a great impact on the soil - as far as farmers not being able to then grow anything else on this land for years.

I can see the OPs point though, as far as growing peanuts for protien vs. caring for livestock (and transporting them, etc.) and what this does to the environment.

Great post, because this is an interesting issue.

I'm interested in hearing what other members have to say about this!!
