I have been toying with the possibility of putting up a windmill to create our electricity. I am not very knowlegable about this, but I have a friend who is. This friend has solar panels on his house that create enough electricity to take care of their needs, and he sells the extra to the electric company!

Has anyone done this or know someone who has?

I've been looking into this myself, and plan to set one up once we build our own home. I don't know of anyone that has a windmill - but it IS possible to hook one up to harness power, just like solar panels.

Here's a thread we started last week about windmills: http://mommysavers.com/boards/green-...ind-power.html
Maybe something there will help you out.

Since windmills can be very noisy, the windspire might be a good option, since it's supposed to be fairly quiet. I know they would be a good option around where we live, in Northern CO, because it tends to get very windy here. The closer you get to Wyoming, the windier it gets.
