I've never been embarrassed- just frustrated that my friends and neighbors couldn't give a flip about going "green". When I talked about it with my old neighbors, they would literally roll their eyes. ARGHH.

I love that people notice and hope they talk about it! What are they going to say? "There she goes...that crazy woman trying to save the earth!" lol I have two large canvas beach bags that are able to hold a weeks worth of groceries and I am able to hold them over each shoulder and carry them into my house in ONE trip.

So maybe it depends on where you live. If others in your area, or town, are into "the green routine", maybe it's easier for you to follow suit? Or maybe it depends on how much awareness there is in your area...

Well, I went to Wal Mart last night and forgot my bags... But I will remember next time! Though this woman was attempting to give my 4 year old her own bag for her toy. I told her "No thanks!" But she still was attempting to put my daughter's toys in a bag. I was like, "NO, I don't want the extra plastic!" She finally backed off there!

What about the mall? Who takes their cloth bags to the mall? Part of the mall experience is walking around with the bags and the names of the stores on them kind of like hunting tropheys! And don't tell me it's not because I was at the mall a couple weeks ago and watched those people! Their posture was even better when they were carrying their shopping bags.

Gosh, I haven't shopped at the mall forever! I don't think I would take my grocery bags to the mall, though.

I frequently tell people not to bag the item (especially if it has it's own handle or is easy to carry on its own) but haven't brought in my own bags. If I have my stroller I'll just pile the stuff in the bottom and out to the car. When I do get bags I make sure to either use them for litter scooping or I bring them back to the recycling area at the grocery stores.

I would like to start bringing my own bags - does anyone have a recommendation on type, size and where to buy them inexpensively? Thanks!

I even yell at my guests when they throw recyclables in the trash can instead of the bin, and set out a designated recycling box when I throw a party. I also try to use 2 liters instead of cans since it is less wasteful. When I worked I brought in my own recycle bin for paper bc businesses get charged to recycle and as a nonprofit they couldn't afford it. How dumb! No composting on my part though because I have 2 garbage disposals better known as dogs :D

My mom started me on being green when I was young and I try to do my part. If you are in my house then you play by my rules and follow suit. As for out in the community if I get an odd look then it's just an opportunity to better educate them
