Is your husband or SO into the whole green thing?

Mine isn't bad, he's the one who orginally brought home the cloth shopping bags, but he could be better, he's also the one who NEVER remembers to use the cloth shopping bags and then throws away the plastic ones!

He was raised on processed food and just this year he's realized that things like farm fresh eggs or items from our garden are better! And that's after us almost being together 10 years!

And how do you get him to join you in the quest for being green?

My husband is Terrible! I have a really hard time getting him to do anything "green". He rolls his eyes at things like cage free eggs and natural peanut butter. He even went out and bought Windex over the weekend because he could not find any in the house. Mind you I have made nearly all of our cleaning products for our entire 6 yrs of marriage and never have had windex in the house all that time! He makes me crazy. He did admit that the natural apple juice tasted better, but, otherwise I have had a hard time getting him to come around and do things with less environmental impact.

That's funny you mentioned Windex because my husband told me this morning that we needed to get some Drano! Seriously is there anything worse in this world than Drano? Maybe an atomic bomb. He knows I use baking soda and vinager down the drains.

Funny you should mention Drano!! DH just dumped some down the tub drain 2 days ago!! I could have strangled him!! I also use vinegar/baking soda, and have for a long time!!

He's pretty good about most things though. Especially recycling our many aluminum cans. And we have many. I've been trying to put that money in a can to save for something really nice for a home we plan to build someday - a RECYCLED stained-glass door!!

My husband is agreeable to all my green habits, but I don't know what he would do without me. He does like the idea of the dual flush toilet. You know, the No 1 and No 2 flushes to save even more water.

Are you referring to a body part? Just kidding.

My husband doesn't do anything green. However, he does support my efforts. He refuses to take a shopping bag to the store and he actually will get extra bags so he can have a plastic bag stash. He will put one thing in each bag or double bag. UGG!!

DH is about as green as me... maybe a bit more so. I shouldn't use it as an excuse, but I'm home with 3 kids all day and will sometimes take "shortcuts" -- I'll toss an empty tp roll in the wastebasket and he'll actually take it out, walk it downstairs and put it in our recycle container.

He also refills glass water bottles every week for his trips out of town. He is on top of everyone in this house about turning lights and fans off when not in use. He uses vinegar to clean things (like I do), but if I occasionally use a harsher chemical to clean something really yucky in the sink, he voices his disapproval!

He bought me two complete sets of stainless steel pots/pans (despite the high cost!) so we could toss out the teflon-coated set. He initiated the purchase of all glass food storage containers (so we could avoid the plastic.)

DH got into the healthy-eating, cleaner-greener-living a little sooner than I did. It began about 5 years ago when he started reading mercola.com and has continued. Interestingly, I began researching (and eventually purchased) cloth diapers around the same time. I also now have glass bottles (my kids were all breast-fed, but they wean to bottles b/c they usually prefer them to cups.... just our preference here.), lots of natural wood toys etc... Anyways, we do many other green things, but it's interesting how we both became more "aware" of our environmental footprint -- in different ways -- around the same time. Our interest and desire to do "more" has only increased since then. We have a long way to go, but we are continually re-evaluating our choices and considering how to be greener and live cleaner, healthier lives!

My DH isn't remotely green. He won't even support my efforts (and often messes my efforts up) He says "organic" like it's a cuss word. Like the other day when I got mad at him for giving the baby a blue popsicle. I told him I didn't want the baby's clothes stained (along with my long list of how the blue coloring was bad and the baby shouldn't be having it or the sugar) and he yelled back that if I didn't use "organic" detergent we wouldn't have a staining problem... my reply was.. "dear I make that detergent to save money and it works fine, if I could afford organic detergent I'd use it, get your facts straight"

Anyway, he's a mechanic and I can't even get him to deal with car fluids and stuff properly. He eats crap and then complains he feels like crap.. go figure. He won't use any of my natural cleaners, he goes straight for the chemicals.

My best way of dealing with it is to not make bad choice items available around here. I won't shop for them and he's too lazy to go buy it himself so he's stuck with my choices.
