Thanks for posting this recipe! I'll be passing it on to my sister!

I tried this recipe a few years ago but it did not get our dishes clean at all. Maybe it was our dishwasher - I don't know - I think it's a wonderful idea if it words but for me it did not.

What does work for us is the Seventh Generation dishwasher detergent. I tried the Planet brand and while it got the dishes clean, the silverware did not get clean and was very cloudy. We like the Seventh Generation brand much better, and you can get it at Target.

I've had a chance to try it twice since I found it. The dishes are clean, however they seem a bit cloudy. I am going to play around with the recipe a bit. Any suggestions would be appreciated!!

I used Seventh generation and it turned my silver colander to a cloudy looking colander. I can't get tit to go back to its original silver. UGH!

While experimenting with several different recipes before finding one that actually works pretty good, I clouded up a lot of my dishes. I soaked them in a soapy sink with Borax sprinkled in the water. Let it sit and then rub with a cloth and rinse in cold water. It worked for my dishes. Borax is even safe for fine china, so it shouldn't hurt the finish. HTH!

No! Wait! What happened to your posting?

I honestly don't remember now what website you found that recipe on (or where you quoted it from), but you CAN, and are encouraged to, post things referring other members to INFORMATION found on other websites - just not refer them to other FORUMS (especially those that are similar to Mommy Savers) as was done in another post.

I appologize if I didn't make that clear enough in the other thread. But what you posted was fine spinglakemi!! You can put it up again if you like.

I'm sorry for any confusion I may have caused!!
There was nothing wrong with your original post.
Lisa...

Thanks Rosemary - maybe I'll use more Borax and less washing soda. It seems worse on the glass/pyrex.

Springlakemi,

I would love to compare recipes b/c mine could always use a tweak. What do you use in your dishwasher recipe? I will share too if you're interested... Hope you're having a great night!
