Pinkitty- Sorry to jump in on your thread! I too have questions about cloth diapers.

Question for those who have used the plastic pant covers!!!!!!!
Did they irritate the baby's legs at all? Were they "noisy"?

I'm just curious since they are likely to be the cheaper option vs. fuzi buns.

Jellylou, I know this is not what you were asking for...but I just wanted to tell you that Fuzzi Bunz are great. I bought the small size and they lasted for 6 months for my DS and then I bought the medium size a YEAR ago and they still fit him! In fact he is still on the tightest snaps. All that to say that if you plan on having other children, you will definatly get your moneys worth on the Fuzzi Bunz...and like someone has already said, resale on the Fuzzi Bunz is great.....you're probably not going to get much at all on the prefolds, etc. I just couldn't imagine trying to put pins on the sides of my toddler son. He thinks changing diaper time is when he wants to twist, turn, etc. He would for sure be stabbed by the pin if thats what I did.

Plus my sister used the plastic pants and they leaked quickly. I have only had the Fuzzi Bunz leak a few times and that was due to ME not paying attention and leaving them on him too long. Fuzzi Bunz also allows the skin to breathe where plastic pants don't. Cuddlebunz.com always has different sales each month. If you have a website you would prefer to buy them from, email and ask if they will match their price. I did & they matched it!

If you want a cheaper alternative to the Fuzzy Bunz look at some of the other wraps. There are lots of other types. I was using Litewraps, but had problems in between sizes. I have a very lean baby. We are now using the Bummis and I have been very pleased with them. Lite wraps run about $6-8 a wrap and the Bummis run $11-13 a wrap. The wraps last a long time and are a lot cheaper than buying disposables in the long run. Green Mountain Diapers has pictures and descriptions of all the diapers and wraps on their site. Here is the link.

Another happy Fuzzi Bunz mom here. We had the same experience as to the fit with my DS. The size medium lasted forever. He never made it into the size larges that I had bought ahead.

Very easy to use!!

We use cloth and we love it! We will never go back to disposables.

We use a variety of different dipes. Prefolds just weren't for us...DH will use an AIO (all in one), but that's all.

We use AIOs and pockets. We have a variety of different brands, as I didn't want to buy too many and have them not work for us. Our favorites are Bumgenius, GAD, SDF, and Swaddlebees.

Our favorite inserts (for the pockets) are Loopy-dos (during the day) and Leobaby mighty nighties for night.

We started with cloth when DD was 4 months old. We bought all medium and she is still in the medium with no signs of outgrowing them. I do believe that she'll still be in them when she potty trains. She is 15 months old now.

If you go cloth, I suggest a diaper sprayer. It attaches to your toilet, like a kitchen sink sprayer, and you spray the solids right into the toilet and flush them down. The diaper then goes in the dry diaper pail (lined with a washable liner) until wash time. My DH just bought the parts needed for the sprayer and hooked it up in less than 20 minutes time. They are worth their weight in gold!

We use cloth wipes too. I didn't plan on it, but it just made sense. The wipes just go in the wash with the diapers. No chemicals on baby and no trash.

I do suggest getting a washable pail liner (we just recently bought a second one so we can use the other while one is being washed), and a washable wet bag to carry along in the diaper bag. We use cloth on day trips and overnights, but not more than one night away, as I don't like my dipes to sit dirty that long. There is an extra step from disposables, as they do have to be washed, but they are SO worth it.

We haven't had any trouble with diaper rashes and we change every couple hours or so unless needed more often. Not counting overnights...she goes all night in a single night-time diaper.

I will say though, cloth diapering is addicting. LOL
