Does anyone use these? I saw something about it on another Mommy and googled it. It looks like something I might consider but I wanted to get some actual user feedback on it first.

Thanks!

I do. And I love them. I love that there is no waste. And they are so much more comfortable than the sticky backed kind. I would be more than happy to answer some of the more specific questions you might have. I find the 'testimonials' on the sites really good.

I've used both http://www.lunapads.com/

and
http://www.wemoon.com.au/

I like the fleece ones (Lunapads are all fleece) but with Wemoon you can choose the fabric. I find it softer and more absorbent and more comfortable than the cloth or flannel.

Hope that helps.

I use them, and love them. My teen DD's use them too. They are very comfortable and easy to care for. I especially love that I always have them around and never have to worry about digging up money to buy pads or tampons when you run out at the wrong time.

Another thing you may want to consider is a Keeper, Moon cup or Diva cup. They are reuseable menstrual cups.

Another member mentioned some type of sponge she used. Sorry, don't remember the name of it right now. I think it was posted in Chit-Chat, if I'm not mistaken. I'll try to look it up and post the link here.

I had a hyst so I don't need to use anything anymore. However, I used to use cloth pads, sometimes. My problem with the cloth pads was they were so absorbant that I'd get too dry 'down there'. One thing I liked about cloth pads was if I was out doing errands and I noticed the pad needed to be changed, I could simply refold it to make it last until I could get home. You can't do that with a disposable pad.

Here it is: does anyone else use reusable period products?

Within this link, Vioburn mentions that the chemicals used in disposable sanitary napkins can have an effect on a womans' PMS-type symptoms. I'd never thought of that before, that disposables contain chemicals, but it makes perfect sense.

I'll have to look up where someone might purchase these reusable pads!!

Here is the Wemoon site: Washable cloth menstrual pads - reusable alternative menstrual products from Wemoon
I had no idea these were made with anything from a leopard print, to a moons and stars print, to a cats print!! That's kind of fun!!

Also, here's a site which offers a PATTERN for making your own pads!!
Many Moons Alternatives - safe, effective and eco-friendly products -

For a Change, good small print! - Please feel free to copy this page. If distributing it, we would certainly appreciate that it be attributed to us (Many Moons Alternatives). Links to this page from other pages are of course very welcome.

Thank you ladies for your responses!

Okay, I am getting the guts to order and try out some of these products. I just have to get over the "gross" factor of it all.

I am interested in all of it. I think I can do the sea sponge, as I already use tampons. But which works better for heavy flow...the sponge or the cup? I don't like the "yuckiness" when wearing pads on my heavy days, but prefer to wear pads on my light days. Any recommendations here?

My cycle usually is medium the first day, very heavy the second, heavy the third, and then very light the 4th and 5th day and gone by day 6.

What do you recommend that I get?

THanks!

Sandra

you may be surprised that once you make the switch that your heavy days may not be as heavy. I used to have super heavy flows, and really bad cramps. once i switched over, i hardly recognized my period......i didn't hurt, and i didn't bleed nearly as much! Just think about what all of those chemicals are doing to your body!

I just ordered some from a work-at-home mom on ebay. They look great and I got a great deal on them. I am pregnant right now but I have really wanted to try them and though they would be nice for after the baby (I spotted for many weeks after having my son). When they come, I will try them and let you know how they are.
