Our bags are more like a canvas-y or strong calico type material.

I'm SO excited! I went to Wal Mart last night and first thing I saw when I walked in was the rack of bags!! No prices on them, so I asked and she checked for me - $1! I got three! I want to make sure I'm going to remember them before I buy more!

Of course when I checked out the checker hadn't seen them before, I explained and she LOVED it!

I saved the tag off one on them so I'd remember to tell you all about them!!

The bag itself is black and says...

Paper or Plastic?
Neither!

The tag says the bag is...

- is 100% recyclable
- is made from 85% recycled materils
- is made from approximately 4 plastic soda bottles
- can replace 50 plastic shopping bags
- can carry the same weight as 2-3 plastic shopping bags

I'm SO excited!!!

Ok, you worried me since it didn't have the price on the tag and I was still unloading my groceries when she rang it up... BUT, I just checked my receipt! $1.00!!!

The thing I love most is it says "Each bag is made from approximately 4 plastic soda bottles!" And that's how many I buy for myself a week! Sad I know, but I thought it was kinda funny!

I can't wait until the shopping bags make it here. Kroger has started them but they are very small and don't hold much. I don't take in my own bags but I do tell them to hold the bag if I can put the items in my purse. My purse is large and can hold alot or if I can carry the items out of the store without a bag. If you keep your recepit out you don't get hassled. However it is the season for checking so if it happens I don't mind.

I looked at the WalMart bags last night. They are the same re-cycled frabic as mine from Safeway and Yokes but they seem smaller. I still think Yokes are the best, they are green, thicker, and have a plastic insert in the bottom that helps the bags stand on their own. A big hit with the cashier that pointed that out to me at Safeway! But at least WalMart is trying!

I think I need to jump on this wagon. I saw some on the way into Meijers for 99 cents, and they looked pretty big to me. My problem is we only have a Pickup truck, and I have to tie the bags so the items don't fall out. It is full of hubbys construction stuff, so I can't just put a crate in it. Plus I usually get a lot of stuff at once. I wonder how many bags I would need.

I bought a couple canvas beach bags at walmart last year for $5 each. They are huge. I can put all my groceries in two bags usually and I just put them over my shoulder and carry them into the house in one trip.

I found a tutorial online to make re-usable bags out of the plastic bags from the store, so I've been getting a couple at a time so I can try to make them myself. I just need to make time for it.

I found a website called ecobags that has all kinds of reusable bags, they even have produce bags. I think I might get some for myself as my Christmas present.
