For those that will remember, I posted back that, though I take my cloth bags to grocery stores, I hadn't made the switch to WalMart, Target, or other shopping places like those. Part of the reason was it seemed a little strange and part of the reason was I usually didn't even think of it.

Well tonight I took my cloth shopping bags to WalMart! I probably saved four plastic bags from coming home with me. And guess what? No one looked at me funny. Security didn't stop me. Nothing! It was a perfectly normal experience. Now I just need to remember that it is the norm for me!

Also, while Safeway gives me $0.03 per shopping bag, Yokes Market will give me $0.05 -- though they did hassel (joking of course) me when I pulled out my Safeway shopping bag!

You know what I live about good cloth shopping bags? You can carry more. I hate having to grab one more plastic-sack because if you pack those too full they tear apart. It is so nice to leave the grocery store with one or two fabric shopping bags rather than 4, 5 or 6 plastic ones.

That is so true!

I hate having to hover over the baggers because they try to shove so much in the plastic bags...don't have to do that with cloth.

I love using cloth bags because it is so much easier to carry everything into the house and I don't have to worry about them breaking like the plastic ones! My only problem is I often forget them. People may look at me funny but I really like using them.

I use my bags for all the stores. It is such a habit I don't have trouble remembering or worry about what other people think. I am also teaching my girls to bring a bag to the store. I can fit so much into the bag and they don't break. It just makes sense.

I've been thinking of doing this, but was wondering how the bagging works! Typically when I go grocery shopping they're already bagging before I get done unloading the groceries! At Wal Mart, I could run up and hand her the bags and then go back to unloading, but my cart wouldn't always be available right away. Do you all have this problem? At Reasors they generally start bagging right away since they have a seperate bagger and cart! I was thinking it might be easier there, but they're REALLY quick there too, so I have to be on the ball! Is this something you guys find is an issue or is it really not! I think for me when it comes to something new I just have to try it! Getting over that first time is the hardest part!

I swear, when I forget the cloth bags it's like they put one item in each plastic bag. Just to mock me, like now you get EXTRA bags cause you firgot your way cool cloth bags.

SAHM to 3 Boys - I simply put my cloth bags on the belt to the cashier before any groceries. She gets the bags, passes them behind her, and she starts ringing them up. Most baggers know what to do with them. I've had a few look at them funny & just start bagging normally, in which case I tell them those are my bags for bagging. I shop at the same store, so they know me now, but just put the bags down on the belt before the groceries.

I also have about 8 of those big bags, so if you keep 2-3 in the car at all times, you'll always have them with you.

I just put them ahead of my groceries on the belt.

I just purchased a few more bags from Yokes and their bags are so much nicer than Safeways because they have bottoms that help the bags stand up on their own. I never even noticed how useful it was until the Safeway cashier mentioned it!
