I used Borax in a water mixture and sprayed the carpet really really well before bed so it would stay all night. I good test is to make a flea trap. Put a dish of soapy water on the floor with a light over it and make sure all the other lights in the room are off. The fleas jump in the water and can't get back out. When it was bad we would get 20 a night....I H A T E fleas!!!!! I understand how yucky you feel!!!!
