My local grocery store (Harris Teeter) will collect my groceries and deliver them right to my car for $4.95. All I have to do is call in with my grocery list.

It wouldn't be the same as going in to the store and checking out the deals and produce myself, but if I just needed staple items, and I didn't have to take two kids into the store ... I'm thinking: wow! That would make my life a whole lot simpler.

One lady I know has a standing order she picks up for her family (4 kids) every Monday. Again, no shopping with kids, no "driving" a race car cart through the store, no crumbly cookies, no hassling with balloons at check out. You have to think, some days it would be so worth $5!

I say try it - it seems like a great treat to yourself once a month or so. I would justify the price (which I think is VERY reasonable) as what I would save by not buying impulse items or sugar cereals or the other junk you end up with when you bring kids. Also, think of how super convenient that would be in the winter -- you wouldn't have to drag the cart and kids through a snowy parking lot (unless you are in FLA or some other sunny spot!!!)

I do this except I pay $6. I am able to shop online and write down comments (such as green bananas....). It has worked out well for me. I generally do this once a week for fresh stuff only and buy bulk other items (paper products, pastas, cans, meat) at Costco every 2 months. When you create your shopping cart online, I like that you can see how much damage you are doing as you go.

I would never do it. I would just shop when dh was available to watch the kids. You would not be able to compare prices and brands and shop sales. It would definitely not be worth it for me.

That sounds pretty neat! I wouldn't use it because I wouldn't be able to use my coupons! But, a great idea for the elderly, someone with small children, or someone that's housebound!

I usually grocery shopped when my dh was home so I didn't take the kids that much either. But if I had to, then $5 would be worth it. Especially like you said, where you'd make a big list of all your staples and you could probably just do it every two wks or so. Then you might have to make a quick run for a few things, but it would still be better than an hour in a store with a couple of whiny kids. Go for it!!

Well....It's well worth it for me since my husband is gone for two months at a time. But I agree, if you can go without the kids and use your coupons you will save more money.

At this point in my life -- probably no. But if I was working I might at least check it out. But when I grocery shop I like to actually look at the items and make my decisions and I don't know if I could do that online.

I could see this being a godsend when your husband is deployed/out of town and you had kids OR you were pregnant OR you had sick kids.

Honestly, I think 4.95 is CHEAP for this service! Plus, think about it, you might spend more than $4.95 on impulse buys so it could be saving a lot of people money.

So, I would not use it everyday, but I would use it at certain points in my life, that is for sure! This week, I definitely would be using it!

I think $4.95 is cheap, too, for the service. I don't think I would do it weekly- but when dh is out of town for a week or two, it will be very tempting. Or, I might do it just for staples and make a mini-trip for other things. I think it really would stop impulse buying!
