Ok, I am wierd.

I get a little thrill when dirt/trash/stuff exits my house. And thus a little cringe when anything is brought in.

Yay to emptying the dustbag on the vacuum, pulling the plug on the wash water, taking out trash or giving or tossing stuff.

Sigh of resignation when the grocery bags with all that packaging comes in.

1. See my garden grow!

2. See food, from my garden, show up on my shelves. I'm not buying from the store, which saves me money, but also saves packaging from that comes from items bought at the store. I reuse my canning jars each year. Though I do not recycle my small zip loc bags.

3. Shopping the farmer's market. I'm buying great items, locally!

I bought a bike this weekend! And I bought a rack with this grocery bag attachment for the back...riding to the market and riding home with the few things I needed felt great! This obviously won't work for big shopping trips but I knew I only needed about one or two bags worth of stuff. The bike was a little more than I was expecting to spend but I'm really excited for driving my car less and getting more exercise!

I'm loving using canvas bags too. I got these ones that fold up really small in my purse so I always have one on hand :-)

Just throwing out less in general is feeling great.

Use my brand new washer and dryer. We bought the Kenmore HE2plus frontloader series, and although they were pricey, our old washer was at least 20 years old, and our dryer was older than that, and the washer tub was rusting and the dryer wasn't drying as quickly as it should. They were both very very inefficient. So, it makes me feel good to use about 60% less water per load, less detergent and a much shorter dryer time, and therefore less energy all the way around.

That is a good one. Yes, I feel good about my energy saver washer, dryer, and dishwasher! Someday I'll replace that frig that I'm sure sucks more energy then anything. And our furnance which my brother (furnance guy) says is about 40 year old!

To make and use my own household cleaners.
To use cloth diapers--so much less trash!
Hang dry clothes.
Can food from the garden or farmers market.
