This was a tip from the Sierra Club that I received today. I've never had to use them myself, must be too cold where I live, but I thought I would pass this along. This probably would smell a lot better than mothballs anyway!

In early 2005, the government listed naphthalene, the primary ingredient in mothballs, as a carcinogen. To keep moths out of your drawers safely, sprinkle a few drops of cedarwood oil inside. Or make your own natural moth-repellent bags with this recipe from Care2: Mix 2 ounces of dried rosemary and mint, 1 ounce dried thyme American ginseng, and 8 ounces of whole cloves.

I wonder if that means American Ginseng TEA LEAVES??

This is great, although I don't have problems with moths where I live either, but I think I have most of those ingrediants in my kitchen!! Natural is ALWAYS better!!

Mothballs are so toxic.

The key to the natural methods is herbs that are really aromatic. No fancy recipe is needed. When I roll up my wool blankets for the season, I just roll up fresh rosemary twigs inside. It dries over the summer but is mothfree.
