we had an artificial tree last year but it broke so i'm not sure what we are going to do this year we haven't decided yet. But the replantable sounds like a good idea. I'll have to look into that. Thanks for the idea!

I've never had a real tree either...EVER.
It's not for anything in particular - I have three fake trees I'm decorating around my house this year.

We have a live one. It was my family's tradition to cut one down every year and the same for DH's family (though they used an artificial tree most of his childhood due to cost). I love an artificial tree, don't get me wrong. But I hate putting one up on carpet. It takes months for all the needles to get out of every crevice, there's always leakage when watering it and the sap gets everywhere.. The living room was hardwood when I was growing up so you just swept and spot-cleaned if necessary. Carpeting + real Christmas tree = hassle. I wish the place we got them from bound the trees though - you know how much easier it is to get a tree in the house when it's bound than when you have to yank it through the doorway with branches everywhere? And the only trees that are strong enough to really hold ornaments without wilting within an hour are prickly ones and then you poke yourself a million times trying to put on (and take off) the lights and ornaments. But we do it anyway. It's just part of Christmas for us! (Though when I'm getting stabbed putting the lights on I'm thinking "man wouldn't it be nice to snap a few pre-assembled tree parts together, spray it with some pine smelly stuff and call it good? LOL)

FAKE here... ALL the way... I don't have to worry about feeling yucky or my child getting sick because we have a real tree. MY neice has been sick non stop every year from thanksgiving to after christmas and they finally narrowed it down to the tree. My dd always gets sick after being at my IL's with their real tree. Plus I have asthma.

We have a fake tree. I bought it 2 seasons ago.. only because we didn't have the right size stand (we needed to have a small tree due to space constraints at that apartment), and we really didn't have the $$ to buy a stand & a tree. So, I bought the $25 walmart special. It is a 6.5 foot tree, and doesn't have a very large base.. but boy is it cute, even if it doesn't at all look real!! And it came prelit, so I don't have to mess with the lights. It fit perfectly in the only space we could put it that year.

When last Thanksgiving came around I was very happy that we had the tree already. We had moved to our house that spring and we really don't have space for a larger tree here either. Not to mention that we didn't have the extra $$ to buy one last year... so we would have been without a tree if it wasn't for the fake one.

We will continue to use the fake tree, until it either breaks, or we move to a house where we can have a larger tree. Even if that is the case, I will probably put it up in another space in the home. I love the look of Christmas trees! They make me smile!

We have a hand me down artificial tree that we use.
There was only one time that we had a live Christmas tree. It actually came from a Christmas tree farm that I helped to plant when I was about 12 years old! I was able to help my friends family plant trees on their Michigan farm. It was so neat to have a tree that I know I helped plant!

Fake, pre-lit tree. Bad allergies and asthma.

I have to admit, having an artificial tree makes me question the whole tradition of putting up a tree. Every year I look at it and think, "WHY do we put an evergreen tree in the middle of our living room and decorate it with a bunch of metal, plastic and glass." Doesn't make a lot of sense to me. But then again, neither do most of our traditions. By the time Christmas morning comes around I think it is beautiful. This year we're decorating the tree with all homemade crafts (paper chain, popcorn garland) and natural looking ornaments (birds, bird nests, pinecones, etc.)

Got my fake tree at a garage sale about 6 years ago for $5! We used it the first Christmas after we were married and every Christmas since. Many people have thought it was a real tree! We'll be keeping this tree for quite a while I think!!
