I was just wondering if anyone has Amish relatives or has spent time living with the Amish. I think I need to go Amish country for a week and get a grip on my stuff problem. Any insight?

I read an incredible book once by a journalist who went to live w/ the Amish for a while. Lent it to someone & never got it back, but the word "simple" was in the title. I highly recommend it if someone here knows the full title. I have great respect for the amish lifestyle & have been much better about not buying stuff.

I would love it if our school would take the kids for a day trip to one of their farms and let them just spend the day learning hands on their way of living.....I love to seeing them going down the road in their buggys

We have a few families that live just outside of town here. I would just love to talk to one of the women and spend a day with them, see what their world is all about. Only they shy away from us " English people" as they call us,so that is not likely to happen. It always fascinated me to see how happy and content they are with so little material items in their lives.

Was it called "The Plain and Simple Journal" by Sue Bender??? I looked it up on amazon, she had a few different books, mostly about her time spent living with the Amish and how it changed her life.
