a lot of times I bathe with my dd (she's 11 months)....it's some fun time for us, and we save water. we also reuse her bath water to wash the dog sometimes......we just dump him in there after she's done!

I have jumped in my DD's used water if I'm short on time, too tired to wait for the tub to drain (ours takes FOREVER!!), or just need of a quick bath to be done with it. And she's almost six now, so she's way past the "peeing in the tub stage". I'm a morning shower person, but DD despises bathing in the morning, so she's a "night bather". DH, well he just does his thing whenever. But he also has jumped into DDs or my water before.

Great question, by the way OP!!

I would never do that now, but it's because
when we were little, we all shared bathwater.
Dad first, then me and my sis, then bro, then mom.
We were quite poor and we moved constantly.
We were just happy to have a bathtub!

Oh my goodness that just hit me hard!!! Sometimes we are just blind to what we do have.

My answer was going to be No way would i do that. However you do what you have to do sometimes.

I know that it was common practice before running water. They would just add some hot water. I always felt bad when i heard about this because usually it was the men who bathed first. They were the dirtiest because of the hard farm work they did. The water must have been filthy.....and then all the kids and then probably mom got to bath....if she was lucky.

have done it. When my first dd was little up to being preg w/#2 her and I would take a bath together often for some "quality alone time" then I got too big to be in there w/her. lol! I will sometimes take a shower and plug the drain while rinsing my hair of conditioner and just let the hot water be on me for a few minutes while filling up the tub for the kids.

I have 5 kids and the 4 younger ones go in one after the other in order from youngest to oldest. My friend used to use it to wash her clothes in the washing machine after bathing. Missy mom to 5

I bathe my 2 girls together usually. I usually shower with them or dh so we do conserve as much water as we can.

sure, when we run a bath my brother and I normally share bath water. However since we had the shower installed we dont bath as often. In our house its done without a second thought.

The saying "Dont throw the baby out with the bathwater" Comes from acutally where "in the older days" the husband would bath first then the Mother, then all the kids and lastly the baby!
