Bisphenol A current uses are as a primary monomer in polycarbonate plastic and epoxy resins. Bisphenol A is also used as an antioxidant in plasticizers and as a polymerization inhibitor in PVC.
Polycarbonates are widely used in many consumer products, including sunglasses, CDs, water and food containers, and shatter-resistant baby bottles. Some polymers used in dental fillings and sealants also contain bisphenol A.
Epoxy resins containing bisphenol A are used to line nearly all metal food cans, including liquid and powdered infant formula containers
So answering your question is very difficult, one needs to research the products you want to consume.
I hate the fact that the canning lids I use contain Bisphenol A in them. I mean I just grew all this wonderful organic produce to can it and have the food exposed to this chemical? But I figure the food is only in contact with the lid during the actual canning process where as store bought canned food is always in contact with this chemical.
I'm working to phase out plastic from my kitchen as well as trying to phase in Sigg type water bottles as well.
It's a toss up these days. Pretty much impossible to find a good safe product anymore, and if it's "good" for you on paper, then it's most likely been made in China.....
