clipping coupons. Over the past year I have tried many things to simplify my life, and I have to say that slaving over coupons is one thing I miss least. I almost felt like a slave to them and the ads- trying to match them up for the best deals. I also realized I was way over-buying in the name of "stocking up", and that led to waste. PLus I don't think I really saved that much when all I did was buy more of the item.

I am buying more organic stuff now, so there aren't so many coupons available. I still have certain coupons I watch for, but otherwise I just scan the ads and make a mental note of what I need that is on sale. Much easier.

I so totally agree with this! I used to do the coupon thing all the time and no matter how organized I would try to be about it, I would always eventually end up with a huge messy stack of coupons that would expire and clutter up a drawer. I will use coupons now if I see one that is for something I am going to buy anyway, but I have almost completely stopped doing the whole ad/coupon match up thing. It just ended up being more time consuming than it was worth. For myself, who is organizationally challenged, I have found that I can use the time I was investing in that (unsuccessfully) to do other things, like cook dinner, which is a huge money saver for us when I do it, or keep the laundry done up so I do not need to buy as many clothes for the children, etc. And I do not have the mess of all the coupons.

All of that being said, I admire those of you who do save tons of money with coupons. I sure miss the thrill of looking at the grocery store receipt and seeing the percentage of money I saved with coupons!

I only save those coupons for brands we really do use (very rare). We use alot of store brands or lower cost brands which usually beat the name brands with coupons. Some people can really save money with coupons, but it seemed to time consuming to me to clip coupons only to find that the store brand beat the price or that name brand is not carried by the store.
BTW, stores in this area never really offered the double or triple coupon savings.

I gave up on them as well. I do like the printable Target coupons. I have printed a few for savings on diapers or toys.

I am not a coupon person myself. I don't mind clipping them but the whole storage part and having them with me when I actually need to use them. Not really my thing.

This is Me too!!
I start out with Good Intentions but they never work out

I am amazed at peoples coupon deals - But it has to take alot of mental work and alot of time.
We have one store that dounbles and Occasionally triples ( only 6 coupons at a time)

I stick with Sale brand or store brands only .
When things we "need" Like Jif Peanut butter or Heinz Ketchup goes on sale , I buy two , By the time We are almost out it is on sale again.

Other than coupons for stuff like diapers & formula, I am ready to stop clipping and storing. I'm going to stick w/sale items or generic and see how it goes.
