The coupons thread made me wonder, what else have you done away with or gotten rid of that ended up enhancing your life? Sometimes less really is more!

Our cable! We went from over 70 channels to just broadcast cable which is like 12 channels. We don't waste half as much time in front of that stupid TV. I know that is not something physical that we got rid of it, but it was a huge step at first!

This might sound silly but the everyday newspaper, and too many magazine subscrtptions they seemed to take over the house.

I do still get the Sunday Paper for coupons but I enjoy using coupons and don't find them to be a waste of time hence being a coupon mod here!

Me too! Also, when we downgraded to a smaller house that too enhanced our quality of life - less to manage.

Welllllllll, sometimes i think getting rid of my DH might enhance my life! LOL, seriously though i wished he would quit smoking, that would save us alot of money each month!
I got rid of magazine subscriptions because i can either read them from my mom after she is done or get them from the library. I make pizzas from scratch now too because they are more filling and actually cheaper to make then frozen ones.

I agree with the magazine subscriptions. I used to get one almost every other day, but now I've scaled back to just my favorites.

I've heard that people with boats are glad to finally sell them. Isn't there a quote about the best day of your life was getting your boat, the second best was the day you sold it?

We got rid of cable too - in November....Hence the reason I haven't been posting about "Living with Ed"... I really do miss that show, and "Law & Order SVU"...but I've learned that I CAN live without watching them. I was just glad to be able to still get in the basic channels in order to catch all of the holiday shows..."Charlie Brown", "Rudolph", etc., and still be able to watch Dr. Phil, Oprah, and Rachel Ray. Turns out we do more as a family now, now that we're not "slaves to the TV"...

Kim,

I'd get shot if I sold our boat! Of course, ours gets used a lot! DH and the kids go fishing every chance they get.

I've heard that, too. I think a lot of people have high hopes for their toys (boats, campers, ATVs, etc.), but never find (or make) the time to use them.

I agree with AyeOhKay... We have a 95 Mastercraft competition ski boat. We spent 50 days on the boat between April-Sept. We keep track because it is our goal to spend 100 days skiing per year... be it water or snow. The boat has been in our family picture for the last 2 years as we posed on the swim platform for our Christmas card. The boat is paid for and our prize possession.

We got rid of expanded & digital cable, newspaper and magazines also. These things were cluttering our life.

With the exception of the Thomas table & Barbie house, I got rid of all the large toys. We had about a 50% toy reduction this year. Less is more.

We have gotten rid of excess after school activites...You know how it goes, Monday, art class..Tuesday, dance class, Wednesday, hand bells and church dinner, Thursday, scouts, etc..it was getting ridiculous!! Now, we are starting basketball and will stay in Scouts, but will drop everything else. We all need time just to be together!
