You have to weigh whether or not saving it for a garage sale and taking the time to mark items, organize the sale, clean up, etc. is worth it. Sometimes the answer is yes, particularly if you have big-ticket items to sell (such as furniture or baby gear like strollers, cribs, etc.). On the other hand, if you're spending weeks to earn $200, there may be a better way to spend your time.
I used to have more sales when my kids were babies and toddlers because the baby stuff sells really well. Now that they're older, they wear their clothes out and don't have as much gear or toys to get rid of. Instead, I give things away or donate them. Don't underestimate your tax deduction. If you itemize on your tax return, this can yield a return as well -- and is much easier.
Good luck!
