My house is so cluttered. We have toys, clothes, and all sorts of misc stuff all over. I have a garage sales every year and it seems like I have a never ending pile of stuff I bring out but it does not seem to get any better. I am trying like crazy to declutter, it does not help that my one dd is a pack rat and has ocd and will not get rid of anything because she might need it someday. But what do you do with all the stuff you need to get rid of? Do you give it away? Throw it away? Sell it? I would like it just gone but then I think of what I could make off of it selling it in a garage sale. The conflict is driving me batty. Any suggestions on what to do with all the stuff?

If it is enough stuff to have a yard sale i have a yard sale and then whatever doesnt sell I put up on Freecycle and give to people who need it.

Donate! I don't have the patience to save stuff up to sell or try to get rid of it on ebay/craigslist so we just donate almost everything.

If I have something that I think a friend or family member might like, I just call them up or email them about it. Otherwise, out it goes! We donate to several different charities, our church and other organizations.

my kids really nice name brand clothes i do sell on craigslist or at the consignment shop everything else is donated if its in good shape and working order if its broken we take it to the landfil... i can't handle having a yard sale its not worth the time and effort... and someone else can get something for a really cheap price and it helps the disabled learn job skills so its a win win all around.

I can not handle clutter at all. I feel very stressed if my house gets cluttered. I try to keep what we have to a minumin (sp). We clean the playroom out two or three times a year and give what we can to salvation army or good will. We clean closets and drawers out two or three times a year as well and do the same with that stuff. I don't mind doing garage sales, but can not hold onto that stuff long enough. We have a huge basement so we will hold onto larger items for a garage sale. But the clothes and smaller toys we get rid of. Salvation army and goodwill normally have drop off sites where you can just take your stuff and leave it. Alot of churches also take stuff, because they can give it to people who need it.

Don't save it for a yardsale. Your in MN, you still have to hold onto this stuff until it is warm enough. If you have some stuff good enough for a consignment shop, take some stuff there. Throw away anything that is ripped or stained. I know sometimes I hold onto stained stuff thinking mabye I can eventually get it out.Throw it out. Then donate the rest. Around here we have planet earth bins all over that you can just drop the clothes off in them. They are even at gas stations.
Take it from someone who has had at least 5 yardsales in her life time and never did good at them. If you do decide on a yardsale, put a big free sign out the last few hours and the stuff will go like crazy.

Sometimes it takes a while to see progress depending on how much clutter you have. I have clutter and am currently working on it. We live in a small mobile home so we can't really have too much or it will feel like the walls are closing in on us.

Last year we purchased a small storage shed and that has helped. I am storing things for a yard sale next year and the proceeds will either go for school clothes or just family fun nights with our boys. This works for us because currently I'm not working and the extra money will help. There has been times when I've been so frustrated by it all that I bagged things up in black not see thru storage bags and sent them to our local mission. If you put stuff in see thru bags you or your family may be tempted to take stuff out. Out of sight is usually out of mind. You have to do what works for you. I find that by having a yard sale that I tend to get rid of more stuff because I think of making more money for our family and with us every little bit helps. *Good Luck*
