Has anyone heard of this site that pays you to recycle??

I read about this on bzzagent, but I'm somewhat skeptical so thought I'd see what everyone else thinks. It "says" you enter the info about what kind of cell phone, or monitor or computer system, etc you want to get rid of and they send you a prepaid shipping label to mail to them and they give you a small "reward". I'd love to get rid of some of my old electronic stuff without just sending it to a landfill, but just wondered what everyone else thought of this.

I've heard of them, but never used them. I would think they would be OK, if going through bzzagent. Cell phone, I'd have no problem giving them, but my computer with its data, I'd still be leery until I checked them out more. You could always send your computer without its harddrive. They usually recycle them by taking them apart and selling the parts, or they sell them overseas, either by part or intact. I don't know if that helps or not. I didn't take a lot of time, but I couldn't find much on them on the immediate googling.

Yes, we have several old cell phones I'd send them. Plus we have an old monitor. They recommend on their site that you erase all your stuff before sending but they said if you don't that they will. I'd just never heard of them before. Maybe I'll try it. Even if they don't "reward" me, I'd rather get rid of this old stuff instead of having it go into a landfill, and the thought of THEM paying the shipping is appealing to me. I'll have to let you know how it works.

I plugged in a couple of phones I have, plus a computer. They are too old for even them to take.

Mine probably are too! Lord only knows we don't have the latest in electronics here!!
