Have any of you started using a power strip to turn off the TV at night? What about the tv that is connected to your cable box? Does that screw up your cable box? I had been unplugging my microwave and plugging in when I needed to use it but I ended up blowing a fuse twice.

I really want to start working on saving electricity.

Thanks

i unplug everything!! lol

my husband thinks i'm a loon!!

bigger things such as washer, dryer, heaters (in the summer, of course ) i turn the breaker off when we are not using them.

my husband did have a heart attack when i started this 3 or 4 months ago, but now its just normal and he even is in the habit of unplugging the microwave when he is done using it!
you CAN teach and old dog new tricks! (even though he isn't that old lol )

I just unplug "vampire" charger. Any ac/dc charger (cell phone, pda, razor, ect...) keeps sucking electricity even if nothing is attached. I also unplug my mixer, toaster, coffee maker, candle warmers, and anything else that's small. I don't think unplugging my microwave or turning off my breakers will do much. Turning off my computer when I'm not using it, especially at night, is a big one. But then DH gets mad b/c I turned it off without him knowing and he still wanted to use it!
