I do basics everyday (washing, dishes, clean all the benches, make beds and sweep floor). Everyday I do one 'big chore' Mondays - dusting/ polishing, Tuesday's windows, Wednesdays - budgeting, shopping, mopping and monthly chore, thursday's - I work so only basics this day, Friday - bathroom (for some reason even with 3 kids it stays remarkable clean... I love this bathroom woooohooo). Saturday - bath dog, clean inside of cars, wash all the bedding and towels, Sunday - I work so only mopping. Monthly chores are, cleaning stove, bins, cleaning the bedrooms, cobwebs I then have six monthly chores aswell.
This works for me, it is all planned out in my planner and I cross off as I go which gives me satisfaction and I know that my house is always clean (tidy is another question but that is for the kids to fix before dinner).
the above method is what I used to have implemented in the stores that were under me and in 6 months they went from crusty supermarkets to places where you would want to eat off the floor, tackle a little bit at a time and over time you will accomplish.
