Does anyone have an electric lawn mower? I'd like to buy one on principle, but I've heard they don't have as much power and cost more to maintain.

we had one we bought off of craigslist for $40, it was used and we had it for about 3 years. It eventually died, but dh admits he had messed with it to try to make it cut shorter for a putting green.
Overall, we really liked it and didn't have to deal with gas, that was our goal as it's bad for the air and generally gross smelling. Now we have an old push mower. I love it! We only have a lawn directly in front of the house and in the backyard, so it's not too much and such a good workout (and surprisingly easy)! It makes my arms and shoulders feel strong after I mow the lawn.

We had an electric mower for 7 years. No problems with power. We had a black and decker. It was quiet and we never had to worry about getting gas. Plus because it was quiet dh was able to mow the lawn early in the morning and not disturb the neighbors and the kids sleeping.

Check out this mower sold by QVC : http://www.qvc.com/qic/qvcapp.aspx/view.2/app.detail

My husband and I happened to catch this when it was airing. It looks like it really does a good job, plus QVC offers a 30 day guarantee on all of their products. If we had a lawn we would purchase this.

a push mower! Now there's an idea. We live on a hill and our yard is a little steep. I wonder if it would be too hard to use.

Update: We ended up buying the Scott's 20" push mower. We LOVE it. We have a decent sized yard and it is hilly, but the mower is so easy to use. It is so fast, I don't have to worry about doing it while M plays outside, you can do it anytime of day.
We also got a cordless electric trimmer/weedwhacker. I haven't used it yet, but my husband likes it. It's nice not to have to deal with a cord.
