Ready to go shopping? Chapter 8 is all about strategy... how to get exactly what you want at the best price in the places you like to shop. You take a quiz to determine your shopping style (fashion victim vs intelligent shopper). Shopping therapy is offered: how to resist impulse purchases. The author reviews every type of clothing store: from deep discount to high end, and lists the pros and cons of each. She takes a hard look at budgeting and helps you decide what and when to buy on sale and when to pay full price. She also walks you through her own laundry system and tells you how to create your own.

This is another chapter crammed full of useful information, and her honest talk about budgets makes me feel like I can look good on even a shoestring. She reviews every type of fabric, how to spot good quality vs poor, and what to look for in certain items ( a great winter coat, a good suit, etc).

Whew! This book is like some kind of shopping Bible. After reading it, I don't feel like I could ever walk into a store and buy another piece of crummy, on sale clothing. I'd be too embarrassed. I know better. Just a couple more chapters to go!

I wrote the author an email day before yesterday, telling her I loved the book and then joking that she needed an FAQ on te colors, because I was having trouble, and she actually wrote back yesterday!!! She was really nice and entergetic sounding, and even offered to look at a picture of me if I kept having trouble! Still need my DH to help me see if pink or orange is better, he's just been hardly athome with work though.

I'm looking forward to this chapter though when I get there. I'm tired too of getting stuff that shrinks or doesn't work after I've bought it.

Wow- that's great! Send her a picture! Maybe she'll give you some good tips that could help out the rest of us. I found the colors to be the trickiest. But also, the more I go along, I'm getting a good feeling for things that look GREAT on me, things that look "Good but not great" and things that, um, just don't look like they should be on my body at all.
