Just wondering how many of you make your own laundry soap and if you do what type of saop bar do you prefer to mix in with the borax and washing soda? I found a couple of good links on making your own...does anyone have anymore to share?

I make my own with Fels Naptha, Arm&Hammer Wasing Soda and Borax. However, I heard someone had trouble with their washer. It might have been r/t to using this. (something about the seals getting dry). So I do buy one bottle of detergent/month just in case.

I think it works wonderfully!!!

Good luck - I do save a lot of money!

I use the same recipe as the pp and I think it works great. My dh works around coolant and tide never got the smell out. Homeade laundry soap does. 2 of my kids are also bedwetters and it gets every scent of it out. I use etheir fells nappa or ivory soap. I like the smell of the ivory better.

That is what I was going to say. Someone one here (I don't remember who) had problems with their washer and I believe (don't quote me ) it was their high effciency washer - which is what I have and didn't want to mess up. So I've never tried it.

When I've looked for the washing soda at the store all I find are big boxes of regular Arm & Hammer baking soda in the laundry section. Would this work as well (or at all)? What stores carry the washing soda?
