Create a Serene Bedroom

Task: Take all of your sheets out of your linen closet and put them in three piles: the recycle pile, the ambivalent pile and the love and use pile. Put the recyclables in your car trunk or pile of stuff to be donated (make sure you have a time and date planned to do this!). Put the ambivalent pile into your ambivalent corner (from day 2). Finally, return the sheets and pillowcases you use back into your linen closet.

From the book :Extra linens complicate your life. You only need two sets of sheets and pillowcases for each bed.

I've already pared down my linens (from the last time we did this), so I'm going to move ahead to some of the other bedroom suggestions in the book:

1. Clear under the bed space - according to Feng Shui practitioners, storage under the bed stops "chi" (energy) from flowing freely throughout your bedroom.

2. Build a bedside shelf - if you need a surface next to your bed and don't want a nightstand, build a simple wall mounted shelf. It will be easy to clean under and you can't fill it up with junk.

3. Create a healthy bedroom - avoid particle board bedroom sets; choose natural pillows, look for all cotton mattress pads.

4. Remove any items that don't support dressing, sleeping or *&^).

5. Don't make your bedroom into a library- one book and/or magazine at a time in there is plenty.

6. Keep your office out of your bedroom. If you must have it in there, find a way to cover or hide it when you aren't working (a screen, closed cabinet, etc.)

7. Remove the television - I think my husband would balk at this one!!!

Post back with what you accomplished and how it made you feel!

I cleaned out under the bed!!! I have never had nothing under the bed before, and boy were there a lot of dust bunnies!!! However, it looks and smells so fresh and clean - I'm just waiting for the positive energy to flow through the room now.

Great one for Valentine's Day! I need to get the mound of books off of my nightstand. They will find a new home today!

Well, I didn't see this one until today (Friday) but it was kind of funny to me. Hubby and I went and bought a new bed set (sleep number -woohoo!!!!) and bedroom furniture. We have always had dark, harsh colors for our bedroom. The sheet/comforter set we bought is white and purple. And we are planning on moving in the next month or two and the new house our room will be smaller, which is a good thing, and I have already thought of how to decorate it. A vase of flowers, a couple of candles and NOTHING else. I want it bright (which is why I got white) and calming (which is why I got purple) and simple. I can see it in my mind and it calms me thinking about it!!!

This assignment was pretty easy for me, I keep our bedroom at the bare minimal. Feng Shui and all. Our bedroom is our place of solace. But that solace sure did need vacummed!

"From the book :Extra linens complicate your life. You only need two sets of sheets and pillowcases for each bed."

We only own two sets, bought some really nice ones that don't come off of the corners!

"1. Clear under the bed space - according to Feng Shui practitioners, storage under the bed stops "chi" (energy) from flowing freely throughout your bedroom."

I don't have any thing under our bed and the head of our bed is to the north to allow for proper flow of the earth's magnetic energy (also according to Feng Shui), it is supposed to help you sleep better. I think it does, DH is not so sure.
