does anyone have one on theirs? We did in England, it would go on at night when the elec was cheap to heat for the next day. There was a "boost" button in case the water needed some extra heating.

I think heating the hot water tank takes up like 1/3 of the elec bill.
This would help that, now just to get dh to do it!

We have an electric water heater so it would be possible to put one on ours. However, there is no reduced electricity rate at non-peak times in our area of the country. And, the worst part is we really do use hot water at all hours of the day of night. It is completely unpredictible when we might have a hot water demand.
