Hope everyone had a successful and fun weekend. My closet is looking great with the help of this book and the one "It's so You."

Today: Dress with Less

Task: Spend at least an hour reviewing your wardrobe. Create a wardrobe without "strays" - items that don't go with anything else. Identify your strays and put them at one end of your closet. Either buy something to wear with them or give them away.

I'm not sure I actually have any strays, but I'll go look. A few other bits of wisdom from the book:

Shop for clothes biannually - once in the fall for fall and winter clothes and once in the spring for spring and summer clothes. Make a list of what you need to fully use what you have. Decide what you will need for the next season. If you stick with your list and only shop twice a year you will always have a current wardrobe where the pieces will work together.

Shop wisely - multiseasonal clothing, clothing that will layer well, clothes with simple lines, classic over trendy, etc.

A few other fashion simplifiers:

Wear comfortable clothing
Own fewer accessories (this would be hard for me)
Declutter your purse
Get rid of shoes that hurt (they also say to own fewer shoes, but I just can't do that!)

A final great piece of advice - when you feel compelled to buy something new, write it down first.

Have fun and report back!

I want to thank you again for posting these! I am enjoying my cleaning and look forward to each new challenge.

I spent most of the day yesterday on my closet and actually tossed all my 'strays' while I was organizing, so I think I'm up to date for today I will go through my shoes, but I don't own many, so I think I'm ok there too.

Thanks again!

Well, I did this part when I cleaned our closets to give stuff away. I don't have strays because I purposely buy sets or shirts to go with jeans. My purse is always decluttered because it is too small for clutter. I will probably take another quick glance at the closets though, just to make sure on that one.

Thank you for posting these!

I need to identify my strays...... I tend to buy a skirt that I find for cheap and then I can't ever find a shirt for it. Thanks for all the inspiration!

I don't have strays but definitely need to go through my shoes. Will do that today.

Sounds like we are all making progress! I didn't have any strays, but I am going through my clothing once again based on color. Plus I'm making a list of what I think I need for spring / summer - then I can ponder it for a while before planning a one day shopping trip.

Tomorrow we are moving into the bathroom. I know mine needs some real help . . .

I'm going to go through all of our summer clothes and figure out what is needed. I lost weight throughout 2007 so I'm unsure if my shorts from last year will fit or not. But great idea.
