Being a sahm has made our lives SO much simpler. We don't have to do chores on weekends, we can spend that time together. And I love being organized, so being a SAHM gives me the chance to really be as organized as possible.

carpooling for kids activities!
We have a group of 5 families and we all have kids around the same ages and they are all in many similar activities. We made up car pooling schedules and now I only run once a week for practices. It's been heaven!

I would have to say just keeping life simple. I'm not trying to keep up with anyone and I don't really care what others think. Alot of people get way to wrapped up in trying to live up to this certain living standard and its just not worth it to me.

Saying no. Not volunteering for everything. My best friend is always first to volunteer for every little thing, being involved in every activity at the kids' schools, church, doing work from home on the side, and she probably gets 5 hours of sleep a night. Her life is very complicated but she never turns anyone down.

I am surprised that nobody has said the computer yet! My computer makes my life so much simpler. I can keep all kinds of financial info, pay bills, do my banking, research anything that pops into my head, comparison shop to get the best prices, use email to contact people and keep from having to make a zillion phone calls (room mom stuff, birthday party rsvps, volunteer lists, etc.) and to keep in touch with friends and family scattered all over the country. I can shop without leaving my house. I can read the newspaper every morning while I drink my coffee without having to pay for a subscription and without wasting all that paper every day. I can stay in touch with my dh while he is working without having to interrupt him with phone calls at the office. I can check all the grocery store ads before I do my shopping on Sundays. I can keep my calendar and synch it with dh's and I never forget anyone's birthday since it just keeps track year after year for me and gives me little reminders a few days before. I can get advice from all of you ladies! So many things... I would be lost without my computer.

As others have mentioned, I'd have to say that staying home has simplified my life the most. I used to spend most days running around doing errands, which would always end up in unnecessary spending, and a tired mommy at the end of the day. Now I stay home and declutter and plan for a lovely afternoon and evening when the kids and hubby get home.

Being happy with what we've got is what makes it more simple for us.

Well, my life is not as simple as I would like for it to be (that's why I'm on this board - Learning from you gals!). But one thing that has made a HUGE difference for our family is going from both parents working to just having my husband work outside the home, and having me stay home and focus on the children and home. We made the switch last year, and what a difference it has made in our quality of life. I can focus on keeing an organized and neat home, make nutritious meals from scratch, and not be running in 3 directions at once. My husband has very few responsibilities at home, so on the weekends he can focus on playing with the children and enjoying his time "off". We've also noticed that the children are happier and calmer now.
