Our house is about 2500 sq ft on the main floor plus a finished basement but we don't use it too much. DH has his office down there, our spare room, a food storage room and a toy room. 3 bedrooms, 1 1/2 baths, kitchen, family room, living room and laundry. It's oodles big for our family of 7. It's pretty plain but that's okay because it'll be paid for in a few months!

Our family of 5 and 3 cats live in a 1600 square foot, 3 bedroom, 2 bath home with a finished basement. The bedrooms are big - thank goodness since the girls share a room, but I do wish the livingroom/kitchen were bigger. We do have a half acre with empty lots next to us on either side, so at least it seems roomier outside.

2950 for a family of 8! I have a formal dining room that we use as my dh's office, a den, a living room, kitchen, laundry room, an informal dining room, three baths, and five bedrooms. Two of the bedrooms upstairs are very large, so my boys share one of them and my youngest girls the other. My bedroom is also very big, and I am able to have a large corner that houses my desk, two tables, and a chest of drawers that is all for my scrapbooking/cardmaking!! Once in a while I wish for another bedroom, but all in all, I am happy with our space. I will admit that once my oldest moves out, I can't wait to take back the formal dining room for it's real use, too! LOL

1000 sq. feet (3 BD, 1 BA), family of 4, plus 3 cats. My 5-yr old son and 2-yr old daughter share a bedroom. Smallest bedroom is an office for DH who is W-A-H-D.

I'd love an extra bathroom, and it would be nice if the washer/dryer was inside instead of in the detached garage. But it's a reasonable space to clean and I love it nonetheless.

Our house is about 5400 sq ft. We just added on 2 bedrooms, a bathroom, and a playroom since we found out we were expecting twins.

Our house is 2600 square feet. We are a family of four with 2 cats and a dog. I think it's just right for us!

Right now, we are a family of 3. Hopefully, we'll have more though.
Above grade -2450 sqft
Below grade -1000 sqft finished walkout.
3454 total
We got a big house because we want plenty of space for family and want to be able to treat the basement like an apartment for visiting family since they live far away.

We live in a 1100-square-foot home, three of us. It would be embarrassingly small for most people in this town, even though it's temperate enough to spend a lot of time outside without extra clothes five months of year.
We have added drawers under the stairs and pared down our possessions. We can heat the whole place with one woodstove and we usually burn 15 or less kilowatt hours a month.
