There are three of us and two cats and our house is only 900 square feet and there is more than enough room. We are hardly ever home, so why have a huge house which means more work and more money to pay the utilities.

We have a 3,600 sq ft house. We bought a house we'd never outgrow so we could live here forever. Right now it is way too big for us. We don't even turn on the heat/ac in the other half of the house because we only go over there to go to the laundry room or use an extra bathroom. We have 4 bedrooms and 3 baths. When the twins are born we'll have to turn on the heat/ac as needed since we'll be over there more.
We are all one story with a large backyard that ends at a river. We have an iron fence that protects little ones from going out to the river but still provides us with a great view.
Our house is also great for kids to run around in on rainy days. This has proven helpful with my niece and nephews. They run until they tire themselves out. Also, my niece thinks it is an awesome house for hide and seek because of all the doors (closets, bathrooms, bedrooms, etc.)
We are the place for out of towners and I love being able to offer a bed and bath to out of town guests. Also, knowing we'll never move gives me a feeling of being safe and secure. My dh is a good provider as well as a saver, so financially we do well even though our house is a little too big right now. Thankfully, our twins will help us fill it out more.

We live in a 920 sqare foot single wide mobile home. That's 3 bedrooms, ONE bathroom (because DH coverted the other to an office space), 3 kids, 2 adults and enough medical equipment to start our own ICU.

We live in an 1176 sq. ft. ranch-style home. There are four of us - DH, DD (4), DS (turning 1 on Sat.) and me. It feels really cramped, but we're decluttering like mad to make it work.

Our house is about 2200 sq feet of new construction on 1/3 of an acre. We have 4 bedrooms, 2 1/2 baths, first floor laundry, family room, eat in kitchen, dining room and living room. There are three of us in the house now with another baby coming in June and an 80 lb. golden retriever. The things I love most about my house are: my kitchen is on the southern side of the house so on sunny days it is sooo bright and happy. I have a bay widow over my sink that looks out on the back yard. I also love my coverd front porch. Our house is a farm house style. In the summer I hang big ferns on the porch and put big white rocking chairs out there. I dont like the fact that my eat-in dining area in the kitchen does not allow for enteraining a large crowd. It is fine for the three of us, but add in another family for dinner and it gets tight. Also, I dont like the formal feel of our dining room. It has white carpet...which i hate b/c it just is not practical for a young family like us.

Hmm.. I would say that our townhouse-style apartment is about 900 square feet.
There are 2 adults, 2 kids, a cat and a hamster.
3 br's, 1.5 baths.
We rent right now and are looking at houses.. The ones that we like are usually around 1400-1500 square feet and all one floor. I HATE having to carry vaccuums up and down stairs. I have bad shoulders and it hurts!
Single floor living is so much easier. I liked it much better than this 2-story.

I feel better about mine too! I live in 1600 square feet - but part of it is very odd space and not very useful. If I could rearrange all the space, I would be happier. It is 3 beds two full baths and there are 5 of us plus 2 large dogs and a fish (and the request for a frog).

we have a 1900sq/ft house for 3 or us .. 4br /2bath. It is ok I would like it better if we actully had a master bath. It is not our forever house but for now it works. When we moved in it was a 3br, 1 3/4 bath. The bedroom that has become the 4ft was considered a den becuase it had no window or closet. We don't have a garage also so right now we have a spare bed room and a tool room.

My house is 3050 sq ft (3250 if you count the storage room above the garage) with 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. That's for 6 people, endless guests, 2 big dogs, and 4 cats. My two youngest boys share a room. We use every bit of the house everyday. Since we live in an area that people like to visit (and we host all the holidays), our upstairs family room is furnished with futons to create more sleeping space for guests. We also have a 1200 sq ft barn that doubles as a game room for the kids. We would like to put a loft in the barn for more storage, so that we can clear up more floor space.
