95 volvo wagon 137, 000
94 honda civic 185, 000 (dh commutes in this car, 70 miles a day)

We figure that in the next year or two dh is going to need a "new" used car, the miles add up quickly with his commute. As long as we fix the few things wrong with mine (the tailgate is having some issues, common on this model), we hope it runs to 200k. We will drive our cars until they die or need work that is worth more than buying another one. We are strict with maintenance too.

No, it's not a misprint. It really does have 670,000 miles on it. A diesel engine will last a lot longer than a gasoline engine. When we bought it from an airport shuttle service six 1/2 years ago, it had 500,000+ miles on it. It's always just been less expensive to make whatever repairs were needed to this vehicle, than to replace it with another. Dh wants to keep it running until we no longer need a 15 passenger van. It gets better mileage than the gas version, which is also a bonus.

'07 Honda Odyssey - 5500 miles (we just bought it in November 07).

My previous two cars (a Toyota Camry and a Honda Civic) had 200,000+ miles on them when they were sold/traded in.

We definitely plan on driving the Odyssey for a LONG time. The only caveat to that would be if Honda or Toyota start offering a hybrid minivan and we felt like it would be worth it for us to make the switch.

I honestly don't know how many miles are on each vehicle. I try to rotate the cars so we have one that is over 100k and one that is under 100k. As the car gets older we tend to drive it a little less and keep it closer to home. The car under 100k tends to be driven on long distance trips.

I also try to make each car last at least 300k. We have a great track record on that front, too.

And here is the clincher ... I change oil only every 10,000 miles. Sometimes I go 15,000 miles. Changing oil every 3 to 5000 miles seems like such a rip-off.
