I think Simple Living probably has different meanings for different people.

To me it means organization, less possessions and activities and saving time. I often combine frugal living ideas and green ideas with living simply.

There are personal decisions you need to make in order to live simply. One person may not want to take the time to clip coupons and go through them, but another may do this in a way so well organized that makes it "worth it." Some people make a bunch of freezer meals in one day, to make the rest of their week a little simpler...the same can be with doing laundry all in one day.

Those are just a few examples. I think to be really happy with your own simple living, you have to come to terms with knowing there is no "right or wrong way" of living simply. And what may be simple this year, may not be simple next year. It often depends on where you are in life.

What is your definition of simple living??

I think this sums up a simple life for me -- having the time, the energy, and the money to enjoy the things that truely are important to you. And that is about as basic as I can make it!

I think mine is different that alot of people's here. A lot of what people post as simple living sounds anything but simple to me!!! Simple living to me is living life the easiest way you can, and still be happy with it. It does not mean cutting my kids activities. It means cooking easy things like Hamburger helper or grilled cheese so we have more time to participate in activites that are important to us. Organizing our life and belongings in a way that makes things easier for us!!!

My definition is the idea of slowing down, making good time choices, and making thoughtful decisions. I, too, believe in living frugally and lessening my carbon footprint, but I wouldn't include these in my definition of simple living. They would be additions.

I'm with you, Marlene. To me simple living is a pace that allows me to smell the roses everyday. The thoughtful decisions allow me to sleep at night knowing that I have acted in good faith. A faster pace may serve my prioritites but I found that my personal well being suffered.

To me, simple living means "to live consciously". It is about "balance". And it includes aspects of frugal consumption, ecological awareness, and personal growth.
