This week I went through my kids clothes. I plan on having a yard sale this summer to sell outgrown clothes, clothes that aren't worn and other things around the house I don't need. Well, my DS #1 and DD are all set for summer. DS#1 just needs some sandels and the baby needs a few more summer outfits but other than that they are set with bathing suits, shorts, and shirts. I cleaned out my own closet as well and anything that didn't fit or was too snug when in the yardsale pile. I find so many nice clothes at the Goodwill As Is for 29 cents to a dollar that I have them all set to go. Has anybody else gone through their kids summer\Spring clothes?

i got my kids to try everything on from last summer over the march break ..nothing fit the ds at all( he had grown almost 7 inches since last summer) so absolutely nothing fit...dd fit into two things from last year( and they were bought bigger)..so i went to the thrift stores( mostly value village) and got them all "new" stuff...i hope the ds does not outgrow it all too( he is 13 and wears a mens medium now!!!! NOT CHEAP!!!!!)...and dd is in a growth spurt now..aaarrrgggggggggghhhhhhhhh

DS#2, Jamie, fits in DS#1, Bob's, clothes from last summer. I need to check the sandals, otherwise he is good to go. Bob will need new shorts and a few t-shirts. We are minimalists when it comes to clothes. I think if I had girls it might be different.

You are right about that my daughter has way too many shoes but she won't fit in a lot of them by next fall so when it really starts to warm up I will put them in the sale as well. My son has a lot of clothes though as well. But a lot of his summer clothes were 5T and he is 7 LOL. Although he is very slender so he can still fit in size 6. He still has alot left even after I cleaned out his clothes. I am a clothes horse for sure. I get a lot of their clothes off freecycle at Goodwill or when they are marked down to about 2 dollars at Walmart. Now I will remember to only get Nolan (baby) some summer clothes and bigger summer clothes for the other two for next year. My daughter has like three or four bathing suits. All but one was free and the one was only 2 dollars. I am good about going through their clothes when I get different ones and give away or sell ones that don't work, fit or they never wear.

I did this not to long ago and I discovered that my kids didn't need much except PJ's and shoes. It was nice I was gearing up for a huge shopping trip but I didn't have to.

I think clothes can get way out of hand. I try to pare down my closet a few times a year and I like to have very classic pieces on hand. Since I'm a SAHM, I have several pairs of jeans, a few sweaters, a couple blazers, a couple of dressier tops to even wear with jeans, some nicer looking t-shirts, a few dress slacks and that's about it. For those special occasions, I have several dresses and such, but we don't have many weddings, etc. these days.

I can't stand going in the closet and having too much to choose from. I find it overwhelming. When my clothes get worn looking or I need a lift, buying one or two items doesn't break the budget.
