What were your simple pleasures this weekend? Mine were spending time at home with my entire family. Chinese take-out from my favorite restaurant on Friday. Having a babysitter on Saturday so I could run errands in peace. Piling in bed last night with the kids and watching a movie.

Yesterday we had a nice family outing to a Kids Expo. Today I enjoyed so much needed time away with lunch with my 2 old college roommates and now home to peace & quiet (dh has the kids out bowling!).

Kevin took Bob to a birthday party yesterday, which left a couple hours of naptime for Jamie and I. Today it's been watch Nascar and play with the boys!

I've been teaching my daughter how to earn money and she's been asking to go to the toy store. So, I took her to this really neat toy store about 1/2 hour away. Instead of the busy turnpike, I drove cross-country, on a beautiful day. The store is loaded with vintage toys - so many fun things from the 30s til now. Out of all things, she picked a Snoopy stuffed animal, and has been with him ever since! It was fun just getting out of the house, going for a drive (despite the gas prices!) and going someplace unique.

Yesterday our family went to the Botanical Garden in our area, it was like a nice little escape from our still chilly days in their Costa Rica rain forest and Madagascar. My boys loved all the beautiful butterflies flying around We originaly went for the bug exhibit! Happily bought a family pass I can't wait to see the outdoor flower gardens in bloom! Its not even 15 miles from our driveway and I had never been. What a great discovery!

We're in NY and this weekend was Maple Weekend - we went to see how they collect and sugar sap into syrup - very cool! Our oldest Ds is 11 and it was a partial science lesson for him, too.

Then, as a bonus, they had a FREE pancake and scrambled egg breakfast!

We took the kids to our very first Roller Derby match and it was fun for all of us! We know one of the refs and found out we also know one of the players. Was a lot of fun and the kids all got in for free. The kids liked it so much, we're going to go back for open skate day and teach the kids how to rollerskate.
