The way I declutter is the box method: One box for things that need to be put away in other rooms, another for things that need to be given away and the other for trash. I just start in a corner or pile and go at it.

Do you have a method that works for you?

I do the same thing!

I do like to declutter after laundry day though. That way I can put a big trashbag in my stand up laundry basket for Trash! I try to fill it up before I throw it out. The laundry basket is on wheels so that helps move from room to room. It's amazing how much trash we accumulate here!!!

I use the same 3 box declutter method, I also like to do this when everyone is gone that way that can't say they need something when they really have no use for it.

My boxes/piles are : need to go in another room, don't use anymore but good enough to sell on consignment, donate, and trash.

Lately I've been thinking about a can of gasoline and a match!

I don't really have a system ... that could be part of my problem.

I love this. I do the decluttering a little at a time. I haven't really finished anything but my kids room and we did that by taking everything out of their room and only putting back in what they loved and used. I don't know how I am going to do the rest.

I keep a bag in the hall closet and when I get tired of looking at something, realize I haven't worn/used it in so long, or talk myself into getting rid of an item, I throw it in the bag.

I'm the same way. My boys are notorious for pulling things out of my trash bag and trying to convince me not to toss it or give it away. I've decided they can no longer help. Instead I give them each a box (shoebox size)before hand and tell them to find their "most super special things." Whatever they put in the box doesn't get thrown but the rest is fair game and up to my judgement.

I seems to work and it gives them a feeling of being included.

I pretty much only do a two-box system, to give away/sell, and to throw away. I don't have a lot of stuff that is in the wrong room, just a lot of stuff!

I grab two trash bags. One for throw away, and one for donate, and go to town!
