is there something vinegar can't do??? anyways, we have a lot of these dandelions in our yard. while they are pretty, they make our yard look awful, and they're starting to spread onto the neighbor's lawn, which i'm sure they're not happy about. i was looking for a green weed killer. we've tried pulling them up by their roots with a special tool, but they're multiplying so fast. i thought i saw somewhere that you could use vinegar to get rid of them. has anyone tried this? or do you know of another "green" weed killer that's not going to cost us a fortune?

I have used vinegar on the weeds that were coming up in our sidewalk and it worked great. It took a little longer for them to look like they were dying than using a commerical products. I just poured a little bit on each plant and the next week they were brown and starting to shrivel.

What a wonderful tip!

I'm sitting with my bottle of vinegar waiting for the first dandelion to sprout.

I too have heard that vinegar works great on weeds but I have never tired it. I actually enjoy "popping" dandelions with that special tool. I get bummed when I'm all caught up and there are no more to pop.

I have heard vinegar works on weeds, it kills them off...BUT I have also heard that certain plants and flowers (the ones you want to keep and grow) do not like vinegar, I would check before you spray it on weeds that are around other plants/flowers/herbs. I think vinegar on grass is fine- but careful around other things!!!

I am going to have to try that on my neighbors yard. She only cuts her yard when she has to and her weeds are always seeding and making my yard look bad. Last year I went over with the scissors and cut the tops off of them but this would work better. Thanks for sharing.
