Last month I took a tote of clothes/toys/books to a consignment shop. Yesterday I picked up $40. I have another appointment on Thursday to drop off more items.

Sometime this week I'm going through the box of text books from college, and I'm going to sell those to Half Price Books.

I have a question. Do you have a lot of nice clothes that you consign? I went to a consignment shop to get rid of some of dd and ds's clothes and they wouldn't take a lot of them. I wonder if its cause they weren't name brand, too worn or what. I ended up making $6 a couple months later. I made $15 after waiting a year at another consignment shop. I live in a rural area and my kids' clothing is usually from Walmart or Target (not a lot of name brands). Do you think you get a lot of $ from consigning because its name brand or just really good condition? Just wondering.

Half price books doesnt give you much at all! I brought in a big tote and another bag they only took half of them and gave me 6 dollars.

Through trial and error I have found this particular place gives me the most for my items. They price them reasonably and I get half. I wouldn't get have that much if I took them to Once Upon a Child. It is a mixture of name brand clothes and Target.

And Noahsmommy, I agree Half Price Books doesn't give you alot for books. I am decluttering, they will take them, and some money is better than no money.

For your textbooks try cash4books Cash4Books.net - Sell Used and New Books

They even pay for the shipping. I was paid into my paypal account.

I am going to be going through our cd and seeing if we can get some money for them. I already got rid of the kids stuff. I took it to a consignment sale and made decent money and it is much better than having a garage sale.

it is probably becuase they are not name brand most of the consignment shops around her will pay the most for name brand stuff there are a couple that i have gone to that will not take walmart clothes and they can be in perfect condition or target clothes(unless they are brand new with tags). the one lady told me they just don't sell well. plus the lady that runs our once upon a child is very picky.

When I got rid of the baby gear, I made a lot at the consignment shop. Lately, I haven't gotten much for clothing. They don't accept toys. I consider whatever I get a bonus. At least it is out of my hair!

I know what you mean! They bought two huge stacks of books and only gave me $11. I would try to sell books on Amazon first.
