Too many animals outdoors to try to plant something out there so I was wondering what vegetables you find the easiest to grow inside possibly near a window without having to put out.

Last year I grew a very late garden. I didn't start my seeds until June and by July I had very tiny veggies so I grew everything late into Oct/Nov, because I had everything in pots...I had Tomato Plants still growing in November. They grew tired and wilted but even to the very end I had little tomatoes still on the vine. They sell bush varieties of veggies that are easier to grow in pots and as long as theirs some direct full sun for most veggies, they'll grow.

Check out You Grow Girlâ„¢ - Gardening for the People she has a lot of information on container growing and maybe even a bit about growing indoors.

Chives are by far the easiest thing ever to grow. Tomatoes would be a good one also.

I tried growing chives from seeds this year and they are the only thing that didn't do good. I just got a few thin pieces that eventually died. Anybody know what I did wrong?

Hmmm, I've never grown them from seed. Do you know anyone with a bit of plant that they can give you? Like I've said before, the dang thing is like a weed. Even my pot that was super root bound and crushed under the snow this past winter is doing great now that I've replanted it at the side of my house.

I guess I'll just go to lowes and get a pot of chives.
I was just really suprised they didn't grow well. I started EVERYTHING from seed this year (kind of experimenting ) and all the other plants are doing great. My cilantro, basil and mints are taking over the yard, the tomatoes and peppers are already bearing some fruit and everything else is just growing away. Only the chives...

So since you are mentioning replanting it, do chives come back next year?
