I made my own bird feeder ( see photo )

I wanted to buy one, as we have lovely cardinals in our yard, but everything is SO expensive....

so the dork that I am, took a apple juice container, a plastic thingy from dd's bubble package, hot glued em together, poked a few holes and BAM a bird feeder!

I figure if the squirrels wreck havoc on this, it's ok

I think that was very creative - good for you! And I agree, the prices on them in stores are way too high.

Cute

My neice who is 12, won 3rd place for her birdhouse in 4 H club, and she made it out of a milk jug.

The main thing is that you did something good, not only did you recycle but you gave the birds a treat

I don't know if you have any pine cones around but I guess you could use anything . . . spread peanut butter on one and roll in bird seed. Instant, all natural feeder.

ETA that I think what you did was a great idea too!

I think its great...and the color will probably attract some birds too. I agree they can be expensive, that's why we buy ours at the end of the season for like $1. Anything to attract more birds is A-OK in my book!
