I just ran across this one! I haven't used it but it sounds like it would work! Lay out a bowl of sugar water (for the ants to drink) with a teaspoon of dissolved borax in it. The ants will drink the sugar water and be poisoned by the borax.

I'lll be trying this one soon as we soon to have an extra amount of ants this year.

One of the moms at preschool told me to use instant potato flakes. The ants eat them, the potatoes expand and basically the ants explode. I'll have to try both this summer and see how they work. We always have a surplus of ants in the brick walkway.

I tried a similar recipe last year in which you soak a piece of bread in the sugar water with borax and lay in out for the ants to eat. It seemed to work very well for us and if the ants invade again this Spring we will try it again.

Just mix the borax and sugar together without the water. It works better IMO. I make a little pan of this and remove the kickplate under the dishwasher. Put it under there about once a month and no ants or roaches in the kitchen.

I have also heard that the ants won't cross a line of hot sauce laid down (like Tabasco), so you can put it outside of window and doors to keep them from coming in. Obviously not in areas where little kids could crawl in it then wipe their eyes.
