I definitely have too many clothes and I've discovered the joy of living simply the last two weeks - we have been on an extended visit/vacation (three weeks) with family and friends and I packed seven outfits for each of us. It has been plenty! I've done laundry once a week, and the tops and bottoms are all pretty basic, so they mix and match well. Add a few costume jewelry accessories and we are set.

I have the same problem, since I am petite. Half the time I have to buy my shirts in the juniors department, or shop at Gap which I can't afford. I am going to go through my clothes and try them all on, make sure I still like the way they fit. I went through stages, before DD I wore tighter clothes, after DD I bought stuff that looked way older than I was. So I think I will work on this tomorrow, or I should say today , and report back with my progress.

I have a very simple wardrobe! I have 3 skirts, 5 tops, 3 sweaters, and 1 dress! I tried this as an experiment and I am 5 months into it and it is so great. I also have a variety of aprons ( I bought a lot of 23 vintage aprons on e-bay and LOVE them!)

I don't have a clothes problem. I can't find much I really love so I just don't buy!

I keep my pants in simple colors like black, navy, and tan. Then I mix and match my tops and blazers.

I own one pair of jeans, three pairs of shorts, and probably 8 pairs of chinos/dress pants.

I went through my clothes closet. I am donating the following to Goodwill:

2 pant
1 jean
1 capri
1 skirt
2 dresses
14 shirts
3 pair of shoes

I am putting 6 shirts into my "style trunk". I started a trunk to keep some of my favorites, or stuff that was in fashion, for my DD when she is older. As we all know the same fashions cycle around. I had a friend whose mom did this and she wore all kinds of cool retro clothes. If DD isn't interested in the stuff I will get rid of it later.

I have the same problem as melsb with my hubby!

I need to go through and get rid of more clothing. I probably have 6 pair of jeans but only 1 pair fits almost right. Most of them are too big

Now I have a project after the kids go to bed! My hubby is on a biz trip so I've been bored at night..

I'll report back with my inventory.

Good going, Thriftygal! Thats a neat idea about the "style" trunk. I couldn't do it because I don't dress in style! LOL I was telling my sister the other day (she dresses in style) that the good thing about always dressing in a classic look is my pictures aren't ever dated! lol So my future daughter would be like "Mom, why would I want these plain old shirts, etc?"

Skimommy, good luck with the sneaky purge!!

I'll clarify, I didn't purge any of dh's clothes! He wouldn't be happy when he got home.

I purged another kitchen size bag of my clothing but I still can't be as simple as you ladies.

3 pair denim shorts
4 hiking shorts
3 cargo non-hiking shorts
2 skorts
1 khaki capri
1 denim capri
4 jeans
1 khaki pant
1 black pant
2 yoga pants
2 bike shorts
1 running pants
2 running capri
3 running tanks
2 running short sleeve shirts
2 running long sleeve shirts
2 sport bras
1 sport tank
10 short sleeve shirts
12 tank tops
8 dresses
3 suits
1 tankini
1 bikini
6 swimsuits
6 board shorts
2 sets of long johns
1 fleece vest
5 fleece pullovers
(This does not include snow ski clothing.. eek!)

I have too many clothes and I have started to scale back----anything over 1 year old either gets donated or goes for consignment. Also I try on certain items and if they do not fit well --out they go.. The only reason I have as many items as I do is because --a) I have a work wardrobe and at home wardrobe and b) I have been the same size for the past 11 years and I take care of items. DH--I have to force him to buy new clothes---he will be getting some new items at the July 4th sales coming up-we can make due till then

Mommy2Ryan- LOL I am sure we will get a laugh out of some of my pictures one day! I am trying to buy the more classic looks when I shop now. I also am not buying stuff just because it is cheap-it has to be something I really like AND cheap! ;-)

Fergy78- I am the same as you. I have been the same size for about 8 years or so. And when I worked I had to have dressy clothes and even though I don't work now I can't part with them. I may work again someday and I will probably be the same size.
