This is really my biggest problem. I still wear my skirts to church, but I have 2 or 3 dress pants and 5 or 6 nice blouses that I don't want to get rid of. I've already gotten rid of over half of my work clothes.

I said I'd get rid of 3 things this week, and I've only completely convinced myself on 1 item so far.

Ok, I tried something different. I made a list of categories and wrote down how many of each item I thought I needed. THEN I went into my closet and wrote down what I had of everything. Doing this I managed to get rid of four shirts, 1 dress, a pair of overalls, a sweater and a pair of lounge pants.

thriftygal---I understand--even if I ever get to stop working (which we are working towards but it seems like a pipe dream) I could not bring myself to throw out any of my work clothes that are in great condition

I don't have too many clothes, but certainly not as few as some of you! I would get very bored!!!! I have 2 pairs of tan pants, a pair of blue, a pair of black, and 2 pairs of jeans. I have a variety of shirts, t shirts and sweaters, some capri's, a couple pair of shorts and a couple of dresses. I also have a whole wardrobe of scrubs which I should get rid of some, because I rarely work at my on call job anymore.

OK, this topic has had me thinking this week and I put a laundry basket right by my closet and everyday I add a little more to it. I really don't have that many clothes....but the more I think about it, I wish my clothing wardrobe was a little closer to ChickyHip's. Man, how nice would it be to wake up in the morning and not battle what you are going to wear. You just have two or three options instead of so many. I don't know if I will ever get there... but I'm making progress. My laundry basket is full of clothes to add to my garage sale!

This is a little off-topic, but I have found this to be a great time saver regarding what to wear: On the weekend I take about 5 minutes to write down the outfits I am going to wear that week. That way I won't wear the same thing two weeks in a row and it saves so much time each morning to know what the "uniform" is instead of trying on half dozen things. I just look at the paper, pull those items and I'm ready. To simplify life even more, after having four weeks of outfits, start again with Week 1. No one will notice. I also agree that I wear what I feel good in more often than other items in my closet.

Wow, you are very organized. Don't you ever want to wear something different? I like being able to wear whatever I want, even if I do have too many clothes.

I think that is an amazing idea! My Mom use to do that for work. She had a job where she was in a different school 5 days a week so she wrote it all out on her calendar so her work clothes were on a 6 day work rotation.

But I love your idea of doing it for everyday. How simple is that ... to get up in the morning and already know what you're going to wear. Great idea!

For me, picking my clothes in the morning is not that big of a deal. I think writing out a schedule would be alot more complicated than the 2 minutes it takes me to grab some clothes and put them on in the mornings. BTW, I don't think anyone at work notices or cares if I wear the same thing more than once in a 2 week period!!
