I love the consummable gift idea but I'm stumped for ideas. I would like to do a wine basket something for my SIl/BIL but I don't know what to put in it besides wine. I don't want to do glasses because they bought brand new ones when they bought their new house. Any other ideas to go in the basket. I would like to buy everything before the end of Septmenber in anticiaption of my DH going on stike.

Also I have a 13yr old & 6yr old niece (different families) who gets absolutely everything they want. I have girls and I'm still stumped as to what to do for them any ideas would be great. I would like to stick with consummable things.

or

candles, votives and other romantic things maybe a nice music CD

For the nieces, do they have their ears pierced? Earrings are well recieved by my dd.

For the older one I'd say maybe a cosmetic bag and some simple cosmetics if she is allowed like lip gloss, scented lotion, body spray or you can make your own soaps and bath products

For the 6 yo something similar on a smaller scale or a bath basket with bubble baths, bath crayons, fun foam, kid friendly scented soaps

or a art supply kit, you can pick up school supplies cheap and put together a basket of "art things". One of the staples for my kids "art kits" is tape. We go thru a ton of tape.

If you have a dollar store they also have stickers and scrapbooking stuff cheap that you could add to the art kit.

Also maybe a fancy dessert that you could buy the ingredients for and then make at the last minute - cheesecake, fancy brownies, cookies, etc.

I was also thinking cheese & crackers. I like the fruit idea also.

As for the kids what about something like a manicure/pedicure type basket for the older girl or maybe a movie night goodies basket with like popcorn, her favorite drink, candy etc., or a girlie type basket with bath items.

For the 6 year old how about bath type items (my girls love this stuff), school supplies (crayons, pencils, paper, scissors, glue) or craft basket (filled with things to make.)

I did wine baskets one year for my coworkers.

I put in a bottle of wine, fill the bottom with chocolates(I used Dove promises), a sleeve of crackers and I made a cheeseball for each person.

I have a recipe that makes four to five cheeseballs that can be made way in advance and frozen if you would like it, just pm me.

Everyone loves it and I usually have to take it to my familys every year for Christmas.

Thanks for the ideas. I'd like to buy everything by the end of September. The Union my DH works for is almost positve they will strike and I would like to have a nice Xmas regardless that's why I'm feeling the need to buy things now but get things at a good price.
