How do you simplify your wardrobe?

This is what I do.
a) I only keep what I feel good in.
b) I only keep what fits (the big stuff gets thrown out).
c) If I haven't worn it in a year, it goes.
d) If it's something I can wear more than once I only have one. (I own one pair of jeans and one pair of chinos. I just wash them when they are dirty. When they wear out, I buy a new pair.)
e) I keep a list of what I need so that when I'm out I don't shop just because it's on sale but because it's on the list.

How do you simplify your wardrobe?
(Kids wardrobes are next week's topic).

Boy is this one I could work on! I go through and put stuff in my garage sales all the time...but the thing is I have the hardest time finding stuff that fits me right. So I have a hard time letting go of stuff just in case it fits better in a couple months (I fluctuate between my ideal weight & ideal +10!) You are inspiring me to go through my closets!!

Looking forward to next week's topic!! Need help w/too many hand me downs for DS!!

I have more clothes than I need, and certainly more than I wear. I am always getting rid of stuff, but it doesn't help much. I'll go through and get rid of at least three things this week.

I actually don't have much clothes that I can wear right now since I've lost alot of weight and am building up my wardrobe again. I do have alot of clothes that don't fit me and hopefully I'll never have to wear again!

I saw a great idea on "Get Fresh with Sara Snow" about having a clothing swap with friends. You can get together and have snacks and exchange clothes that you no longer want with your friends. It not only saves money but the enviroment as well. It would be great if my friends lived closer to me.

My wardrobe is the simplest thing in my life!

I have one pair of jeans and one pair of khakis. Same with shorts, one denim and one khaki. I do have a pair of black capris and a black skirt. I buy mostly black tops because I can easily mix and match that way. I hang my clothes to dry. This seems to make them last longer and they don't go through that dryer shrinkage. I rarely buy anything new, I usually get what I can at garage sales and thrift stores. I buy "classic" looks so that it never really goes out of style.

My wardrobe isn't too bad. I do keep things simple and I just purged recently (of course now I need to haul those clothes away ). My husband is another story. First, he likes clothing and he can always find amazing deals either at 2nd hand stores or places like Ross. And for his work he does dress up. It is a struggle between us but I can't really start sending his clothing away -- well OK, I do get a piece here and there but he always figures it out.

LOL! I think this is so funny because it's my DH almost exactly! The only difference is my DH doesn't buy anything....not even second hand. The has about 45 shirts hanging in the closet PLUS 3 drawers packed full of shirts & other clothing items. He has gotten everything handed down from his brother & my Dad. He has shirts in his closet that I have a picture of him wearing when he was about 9 years old (He's 28 now) and that shirt was first his older brother's..and who knows how long HE wore it! I shouldn't complain because the only thing we have to buy is nice, work khaki's and thats only one pair every 2 or 3 years. He literally wears pants until (and even past) they have holes in them! But he is overtaking our closet!!! It's driving me crazy. So every now and then I take a few things out and hide them. If he hasn't noticed in a couple weeks, I donate it. LOL

Oh man. I can't imagine only have one pair of jeans! I am embarrased after reading what all everyone else has to tell what I have:
8 pairs of jean
10 "pants" various colors and fabric
10 capris various colors and fabric
104 shirts hanging in my closet!
Plus about 10-15 dresses/skirts
And that doesn't include my dresser. I have tons of sweaters and 3 drawers (small sized) of shirts.

I can definetely go through my stuff and get rid of some. But everytime I get rid of something I always find myself looking for it later. I have been the same size for years, that is why I have so much stuff. And I do go through it periodically, my DH and I both do. He has probably just as much as I do. :-)

WOW, now that is some clothes!! I wish I could find HALF that many clothes that actually looked good on. Thats why I don't mind having so few things... I can't find any MORE that actually fit the way that I like....not too old looking, but somewhat modest. Hard to find these days!
