Please continue to keep my ten year old niece in your prayers. Her depression is now to the point of not eating for days, crying all the time, not sleeping for fear something might happen to someone while she is asleep......it is BAD. She has a referal to a psychiatrist...and is set to see one on Tuesday, I think. They say she is not an immediate danger to herself, so they cannot get her in until then. Her dr. and my sister/bil are keeping a very close eye on her to make sure she does not get to that point, too. I am ten hours away, and I feel so stuck and unable to help...but my sister said it is worse sitting in the same room with her, watching her, and not being able to do anything about it..not being able to reach her..and that she is also stuck. My sister is also about 9 weeks pregnant, so she has the hormones, sickness, tiredness, etc. to go on top of my niece. Just pray for her...I am so scared for her.

I'm so sorry that she is going through this. Depression is hard enough on adults, I can't imagine it for a child. I'll keep her in my prayers.

Poor little thing! I will keep her in my prayers for sure. I know tuesday seems like forever, hang in there. They have so many wonderful medications and they will be able to help her right away at least through medication and then go from there. I feel so badly for your whole family. I hope your sister can get some rest! Does she have any other children besides baby on the way?

What a scary situation for your sis & bil. And how horrible for your niece. It almost sounds like she needs to be hospitalized. This seems beyond normal depression, especially in a child so young. I hope they can hang in there until Tues. I'm sure that will be a long few days for them.

Oh that's terrible. I can't even begin to image what this poor family is going through. My thoughts and prayers are going out to them.

My sister does have another child..a first grader little girl. HER teacher called my sister last week to talk about a picture that she had drawn in class. They were supposed to draw what they had done the day before after school...and my niece, who is very ahead and already spells a lot, drew a picture of a person laying her head on a table crying..and another child dancing around the table..and labeled it, "What I did after school was try to cheer up my sister". The teacher was concerned for my older niece, too...and that it wsa bothering my younger niece enough to draw that. It is just so hard....praying for Tuesday to get here soon...and yes, I agree with the might need hospital now...if it was me, I think I would have headed that way already. I know that is a hard decision, but I would be scared not to.

Sounds good though that they have recognized this as a problem and are trying to get some help. I was actually suicidal at the young age of 12. No one recognized any of the signs so I never did get any help - parents just thought it was normal pre-teen angst. I'm glad your family is on the ball and doing what they can.

Prayers for healing and strength for all are being sent.
